Manavgat Waterfall is located on the Manavgat River within the Manavgat district of Antalya, taking its name from the surrounding area. Situated 72 kilometers from Antalya, the waterfall lies 3 kilometers north of the Manavgat district center and is also noted to be near the city of Side.
The waterfall is formed as river waters drop over a 3 to 4 meter cliff. Despite falling from a low height, it flows with a high rate of discharge over a wide area. Its white, foaming waters rush powerfully over the rocks, and this dynamic view is best appreciated from a high altitude.
The largest source feeding the Manavgat River was the karstic Dumanlı spring, which remained under the reservoir lake after the construction of the Oymapınar Dam. Additionally, the Oymapınar Dam is located 12 kilometers to the north of the river. Seasonal conditions also affect the site, and during floods, the Manavgat Falls may completely disappear under high water.
As a notable historical and cultural detail, the waterfall was depicted on the reverse of Turkish 5 lira banknotes issued between 1968 and 1983, cementing its place in national recognition.
Today, the surrounding area offers various amenities for visitors. Near the waterfalls, shady tea gardens and picnic areas provide pleasant resting places alongside commercial properties such as live fish restaurants operating for tourism purposes.
Transportation to the waterfall is carried out via urban public transit. Furthermore, following a presidential decree dated March 15, 2023, the conservation status of the potential natural site was evaluated, and the area was officially registered and declared as a strictly protected sensitive area.
